Blog Social Networking

Social networking has been a powerful source in connecting people together, whether it is business related or used on a personal level. We are basically surrounded by the world of technology, where we can't go one day without using social media or the Internet in general. One way social networking has benefited society is through job recruitments. One of these examples is Linkedin, which networks millions of professionals together. In the article, " Social Networking Boosts Job Recruiting," LaSpina says, "I was impressed by that, that someone reached out to me, with a position and looked at my background and realized there might be a fit here." Without physically meeting someone beforehand, one is able to look for jobs that interest them and connect with people who may be working there to get more insight about the company.

Social networking is generally a public area, so almost anything you post onto the internet can be viewed by anyone and everyone. People generally want to update their friends publicly on social media and connect with each other, but sometimes negative effects such as privacy come into play.  One of the many sites that deals with this issue is Facebook. It seems that there are ways to limit who see your profile, but it is more complicated than it seems. In "Facebook Privacy is So Confusing Even the Zuckerberg Family Photo Isn't Private," it discusses Randi Zuckerberg posting a photo where she thought it would be only limited to HER friends seeing it, but it ended up being accessible to her friends as well as the friends of the people tagged in the photo. It's important to realize that anything posted publicly will have a good chance of getting viewed by someone you may not know and it's good to be cautious of what you post online.

As technology evolves in the future, I believe that privacy itself will always remain has one of the main issues in social networking. However, technology is constantly evolving to become better and has constantly improved the lives of people and society. With easy access to information and better communication between people, we are constantly able to connect with people around the world.

A type of new media that does not exist to this day is the constant use of virtual reality in everyday environments. Currently, virtual reality exists, but on the aspects that it is mostly seen to be used for  entertainment features. With little development to this field, it is hard to imagine a world where we are constantly using this for convenience. However, I believe it is possible to implement the use of virtual reality for other fields, such as education. Some aspects of education that can be implemented is a virtual field trip, where students are able to imagine the environment of being in a different place. This can also be super beneficial for distance learning too because one may like to experience the aspects of learning in a classroom and this can be done through virtual reality. Another application to virtual reality that can be potentially added is the use of exercising environments. Due to the arising pandemic, it has been harder for people to exercise outside or vis...

Creativity and New Media

I am currently playing Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. When first downloading this application, you are first presented with choosing the clothes, hair style and accessories for your character. This allowed me to express myself through a character and what kind of clothing i am more attracted to. It also allows you to decorate a camper van, which showcases the ability to create and showcase what my ideal house decorates or what kind of furniture i am interested in. Although this game is not super ideal with real life, it gives the experience of catching fish, shells, or bugs and helping other animals by completing requests in order to earn bells (currency on Animal Crossing) or supplies in order to customize your camp or camper the way you want. Below are images depicting how the game works and the customization of my camper van and campsite, as well as the activities available on the game. As I continue to play this game, I will be able to further customize myself with ease when I am ...

Blogs vs Wiki

The way information is being passed on continues to evolve, even to this day. In the past, information was only obtained through books, magazines, newspapers, the television, and the radio. With only limited media available, it was probably more difficult to search for specific information in the past. As generations passed by, the internet became a thing and the way we search for information was changed forever. Simply from searching certain phrases or certain keywords, one is able to find exactly what they are trying to find, whether it's a particular person or a product they are researching. Information is now easily obtained through multiple sources online. Some of these sources include blogs and wikis. Blogs and wikis have their fair share of similarities. They are both sources where information can be obtained whether it's accurately written or not.  Blogs have more of a personal feel and are usually contributed by one person, or a team of people, depending on who or...
