Creativity and New Media

I am currently playing Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. When first downloading this application, you are first presented with choosing the clothes, hair style and accessories for your character. This allowed me to express myself through a character and what kind of clothing i am more attracted to. It also allows you to decorate a camper van, which showcases the ability to create and showcase what my ideal house decorates or what kind of furniture i am interested in. Although this game is not super ideal with real life, it gives the experience of catching fish, shells, or bugs and helping other animals by completing requests in order to earn bells (currency on Animal Crossing) or supplies in order to customize your camp or camper the way you want. Below are images depicting how the game works and the customization of my camper van and campsite, as well as the activities available on the game. As I continue to play this game, I will be able to further customize myself with ease when I am

HW Creativity

New media is able to foster creativity because it allows one to be self-expressive about what they love doing and what they want to show to the world. Some examples include the use of Facebook, Youtube and Instagram. Youtube has a wide variety of content for viewers to enjoy, which includes, make-up tutorials, make-up product reviews, food adventures, gaming, comedy, video blogs, music playlists, how-to videos, and much more. People who make videos on Youtube often also ask for viewer opinions on what types of videos they would like to see to please its consumers. In "How user-generated content can improve your social media marketing skills," they mention the different ways that can bring more consumers to enjoy one's content more. Some of these include, incentives, such as promotion codes and discounts through sponsorships, direct conversation with consumers through community blogs, and truthful thoughts through reviewed products or content. People are more likely to do

Modeling Reality With Virtual Worlds

Virtual world is the ability for people to do things without physically going somewhere. One is able to experience these things through a screen. One way where virtual worlds have be implemented is virtual working. In the article, "Going to the virtual office in Second Life," Tutton describes the ability to hold virtual meetings. He also says, "Not only did we save time, because the environment was so engaging, a lot more ideas came in." People have the ability to not just stay in the office and feel like they are trapped inside. They have the freedom to explore and think about ideas while exploring the environment around them. Another way where virtual worlds can be used is a virtual classroom. With all the technology available, one is able to learn from multiple Internet sources to find information they need. These days, because of the coronavirus, many schools and colleges have converted to online learning, where classes are having group video calls to teach a l

Blog About Twitter

Twitter and Blackboard discussions have similarities in the sense that both are used in communicating with other through posts and replies. Through Blackboard, students enrolled in the same class are able to read each other posts and communicate with each other, as well as give feedback. Of course there is not much exposure besides the classmates that are taking the same course. Twitter offers the same, if not similar functions, but is able to offer more features for a more interactive platform. One main difference is the use of followings and followers. You follow someone because you are interested in the content they provide, and want to be updated daily if they ever post a new tweet. Some of the features Twitter users have are the use of likes, retweets and quote retweets. Using these features enable tweet to be seen by people who many not follow you, which gives your content more exposure. In addition, with the use of hashtags, tweets are easily categorized to find content one is p

Blog: Social Networking Sites

The four sites I have decided to discuss are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube. I have been an active user for these social networking sites and there are noticeable differences between each of these sites, but the main purpose through all four is the ability to communicate with others no matter where you are in the world! All four of these social media platforms implement the use of hashtags for user to easily find what they are looking for. Facebook is one of the main places where I keep in touch with friends and family. With its handy app of messenger, you are able to communicate with anyone for free as long as there is internet access. Other features of Facebook include group pages, where members of the same interest. One in particular that I am apart of is "subtle asian traits," where Asians would share their experiences of being a first-generation immigrant in the forms of jokes and memes. It has been a great way to connect meet with other people who share simi

Blog Social Networking

Social networking has been a powerful source in connecting people together, whether it is business related or used on a personal level. We are basically surrounded by the world of technology, where we can't go one day without using social media or the Internet in general. One way social networking has benefited society is through job recruitments . One of these examples is Linkedin, which networks millions of professionals together. In the article, " Social Networking Boosts Job Recruiting," LaSpina says, "I was impressed by that, that someone reached out to me, with a position and looked at my background and realized there might be a fit here." Without physically meeting someone beforehand, one is able to look for jobs that interest them and connect with people who may be working there to get more insight about the company.  Social networking is generally a public area, so almost anything you post onto the internet can be viewed by anyone and everyone.
